ENCOURAGING BOOK

posted by Caroline

Sometimes we need hope, encouragement and support and for me often this comes in form of encouraging words from great books. This morning I found just that in a book I didn’t look at for a while……but gave me exactly the encouragement words I needed today. I think you find it encouraging as well.

From the book: I Believe in You,  edited by Gary Morris     (A Blue Mountain Arts, Collection full of Encouragement and Inspiration)

I Know This Much About You…..

I know that whatever road you choose you will find it rewarding, because you always give one hundred percent to your endeavors. I also know that whoever you encounter on that road will benefit from knowing you, because of the special and caring person that you are. You have wonderful experiences ahead of you. Live each day to the fullest, and never lose appreciation for your blessings.   – Kelly D. Caron

Working it out

Posted by Linda

Conflict! There are plenty of opportunities to work out conflict in these highly agitated times. Or Not! I have read so many stories of people not speaking to family members any more, or of friendships and even marriages breaking apart over different ideas about what is going on in our political atmosphere these days. It’s really interesting how one man, albeit a very powerful, one can create such calamity. Many people, including myself, have very strong opinions about how our country is being run and by whom. Most of my friends and I agree about the subject in question, but not everyone and not every family member.

When it comes to a disagreement with someone that I don’t know very well, I might choose to let them go, but it has to be a fairly major difference, most likely in the area of honor or integrity. After all, we have heard so many times not to surround ourselves with toxic people. Under normal circumstances, the need to distance ourselves doesn’t happen very often, but it’s different now, with raw and strong emotions being elicited in our country.

However, I love a few of the people with whom I disagree. What is the best way to deal with this situation. First, I might feel irritated and if I allowed the irritation to continue, it could eventually lead to an irreversible break up of our relationship. So I learn the art of self soothing and eventually I can think clearly enough to make a decision about the relationship. If I choose to stay, I remind myself first, that this is a part of the way that they are, and that there are many other parts that I appreciate and love. And then, taking my time, and not being controlled by fear or anger, I decide.

Peace and love, that is my heart’s desire. Please contact me if you would like assistance finding yours.

Answer received from my project: What means a TRUE FRIEND TO YOU?

1) A best friend is someone who knows your past and all your secrets… and loves you anyway. Someone who you trust so much that you know that  past and those secrets are safe with them. Someone who can forgive you when you make a relationship mistake because they  trust that it was a mistake and they do not make anything bigger out of it. Someone who can stand witness to your life and be with you through it. Who loves you and your family and would do whatever they were able to be there for you in times of need. AND someone who feels and is able to accept the same sentiments from you, as you receive from them, and the relationship is BALANCED in the giving and taking. You both know it is for life. Someone who, even if you do not talk for a long time, you know that it means nothing more than that they are busy, but you know they think of you and pray for you. You do the same back towards them. I am blessed to have such a person in my life for 37+ years and I thank GOD for her most everyday. Thank You Betty!
