By Caroline

There are creative ways to reduce stress daily. Take a mini-vacation with coloring. There are many choices of big and small coloring books or download and print out some beautiful Mandala patterns to calm your nerves. You can do it during your coffee or lunch break. Coloring is a form of meditation and a great way to relax, create something beautiful and engage with different colors which works like color therapy.

More creative color therapy topics and many other wellness related topics will be in our new book “Wellness Perspectives” written by the Three Coaches and a Psychologist.  The wellness book will be available in fall.

CLEANING YOUR HOME IN A “GREEN” WAY

posted by Caroline

I spent hours traveling in a train today. I heard sneezing, coughing and I was glad having some drops of essential oils with me. I had my Lemon Oil on my scarf and Eucalyptus on a small tissue which I could inhale during this long drive sheltering me from the cold bugs.

I also recommend this book below. Cleaning your home in a “green” way is the best way to avoid colds. Learn how to keep a clean green home and body and your family will thank you for keeping them healthy during this cold season.

Shall We Meet

Posted by Linda

Koala Bears are cute little animals, but they also can be fierce. I think that what is going on in the United States today is bring out some of the ferocity. It’s also bringing rise to a lot of frustration. I am speaking for myself, but ever since the election, I haven’t felt the same. I may have disagreed with things in this country, but I have always felt pretty safe, like we would work it out. Now, I don’t know at all. Everyday I wake up wondering what new and devastating thing has happened, and much of it is due to the inexperience and volatile way matters are being handled. I fear that we are headed for a totalitarian government and that we can not get along with our allies, much less anyone else. School children in Canada are not being allowed to visit the US.When has this happened?

What can we do to make the changes that we want to and to feel more settled in our lives. I am offering a group meeting via conference call once a week to air our sadness and fear and figure out how we can best impact the future in a positive way. There will be a nominal fee. Please email me at linda.m.harris@gmail.com if interested in joining.

FAMILY-WEEKEND COOKING FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK

By Caroline

So many families struggle with time and time-management at home and at work. Helping people organizing, decorating and simplifying life is one of my passions.

The stress during the working-week with doing so many things for the family including shopping and cooking healthy food can be overwhelming.

1.) Make a fun family-evening or weekend to chose some healthy menu-recipes from cook-books and cooking-magazines and include your children in choosing.

2.) Look for balanced meals. Prepare ahead and cook. I recommend to look for 3 categories: for example: Meals with Pasta, Rice and Potatoes. Cook the portions you need for the weekly menus all at once.

3.) The same for veggies: for example: peas & carrots, broccoli/cauliflower, tomatoes

4.) The same for the meats: Chicken, beef, fish

5.) Wash the salads, prepare  and put in fridge, but no more than 1-3 days

5.) Make a copy  from the 7 menu-recipes for the week

6.) Copy or write the separate ingredients-shopping-lists for the recipe.

4.) File  them together to use another time. With a copy you save time in looking for recipes and writing the shopping list several times!

Use a weekend to cook the meals ahead for the week and make single portions for the evening or per person and freeze. If you write the days on the containers and stack them accordingly you have always the right day on hand when you come  home from work/school. Remember: 3 veggies (can be salads), 2 fruits a day to incorporate to your meals.

The benefits: 1.) No stress to find out what to eat each evening. 2.) No running after work in the store. 3.) Knowing  that your family eats a balanced meal a day.  4.) More time spending together as a family at the dinner table.
