Helping others move towards better health, harmony, and joy.
Posted by Linda So many people have trouble with sleeping at night, so I decided to read a little more about the subject. A book by Arianna Huffington, “The Sleep Revolution”, was the first helpful book that I read. It not only has many ideas for getting a good night’s rest, but goes into the history of sleep and the many ways that we can be affected by the lack of it, physically and emotionally. This book is very motivating. She writes about how culturally we are encouraged to get by with 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night because that suggests the we are busy and successful which is way more important to some people than being healthy. In “Insomnia”, by Michael Krugman, MA, GCFP, the author gives the reader many ideas for getting a better night’s sleep. One that stands out is also very simple. He suggests when resting in bed at night, coordinating each slow and easy breath with a slight movement of the tongue, lifting it up to gently touch the roof of your mouth while you breather in and while exhaling, letting your tongue relax. I would love to hear how this works for you!
